The newly appointed Chairperson and members of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) formally assumed duties on 2 November 2026. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, upon the recommendation of the Constitutional Council, appointed retired Supreme Court Judge Justice V. K. Malalgoda as the new Chairperson of the Commission.

The other members appointed to the Commission are Ms. S. Y. M. Gomez, Mr. A. L. A. Azeez, Dr. S. S. S. B. D. H. Jayawardena, and Professor T. Jayasingam.

These appointments were made to fill the vacancies arising from the completion of the terms of office of the previous Chairperson and members of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.
