The HRCSL Preparation of Guidelines for the Police and Armed Forces on Crowd Controlling
The HRCSL observe the island-wide tense situation and had a discussion with the Inspector General of Police and have agreed to formulate a general guidelines for crowed controlling for the Police and Armed Forces. Accordingly, the HRCSL appointed the following Panel of Experts;
- Palitha Fernando – PC , former Attorney General
- N.K. Illangakoon – former Inspector General of Police
- Professor Wasantha Seneviratne, Chair Professor – Department of Public & International Law, University of Colombo
- Madawa Tennakoon, Deputy Solicitor General
- Ramani Muttetuwegama, Attorney-at-Law
- Chandrika Karunarathne, Attorney-at-Law
- Nihal Chandrasiri, Actg. Director – Monitoring & Evaluation, HRCSL
- Kapilan Villavarajan, Legal Officer, HRCSL
The guideline formulation process is currently in progress and it is expected to share the guidelines with the Sri Lanka Police and the Armed forces shortly.
