The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka released “Recommended Guidelines to the State and Law Enforcements Officials on Dealing with Civilian Protests” on 12 May 2023. These recommended guidelines were prepared by the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka in a period of about one year after consulting legal experts, civil society activists, and law enforcement officers.

It is necessary to take into consideration the public views and comments regarding this recommended guidelines prior to the release of the final guidelines.  Accordingly, the general public have been given the opportunity to forward their comments and suggestions in writing in Sinhala/Tamil or English before 09 June 2023.
