The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) had a meeting with The Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment, the Department of Samurdhi Development, the National Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities, and the Disability Organizations Joint Front on 21.03.2023. The subject matter of discussion were the numerous difficulties faced by the disabled community in Sri Lanka, as a result of the Government’s decision to make it mandatory for persons with disabilities to obtain the allowance that they are entitled to from the Samurdhi Banks only. The HRCSL engaged in a discussion with the above parties to find a resolution.
