On December 10, 2024, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) marked
International Human Rights Day with a ceremony at the BMICH under the theme “Our Rights,
Our Future, Right Now.” This theme underscores the urgency of addressing human rights
challenges while building a sustainable and inclusive future.
At this event, the HRCSL launched four significant publications, each addressing critical aspects
of human rights:
1. Guidelines and Recommendations:
o Two publications detailing guidelines and actionable recommendations.
o These focus on the rights of persons with disabilities and the protection of human
rights defenders.

2. Key Recommendations:
o A compilation of selected recommendations made by HRCSL in 2024.
o This document offers insights into the Commission’s recent work in addressing
human rights violations and shaping future standards.

3. Research on "Manpower" Workers in Free Trade Zones:
o This publication contains findings from research on the working conditions of
"manpower" workers in two free trade zones.
o It includes practical recommendations aimed at improving the rights and welfare
of this often-overlooked community.

These publications reflect the HRCSL’s efforts in raising awareness and promoting
accountability to protect and promote human rights across Sri Lanka. The publications serve as
both a resource for stakeholders and a catalyst for action in crucial areas of human rights.
